Increased recycling of plastics is an absolute necessity to reduce the depletion of natural resources. If plastic is not recycled and sorted and handled properly, it will be sent to incinerators, or at worst thrown into the natural environment where it ends up contributing to land and sea pollution. Increased recycling will lead to a reduction in oil consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as a reduction in the use of valuable natural resources. What will happen now when the recycling industry shuts down production around Europe caused by the Covid-19 pandemic? What about the EU action plan for a circular economy? Will the way to reach 65 percent of material recycling be longer?-Geir Vidar Persen, Sales Director IP-Group
